The 2012 Olympics was a particularly memorable event in sporting history. Athletes from all over the world got to show off their skills and prowess. They would not have been able to achieve such feats without very reliable coaches. There are a number of coaches from the 2012 Olympic Games who are worth talking about.
Glen Mills
Mills was one of the most memorable athletic coaches during the Games. He was once the head coach for Jamaica. Over the years he has helped to train big names such as Warren Weir, Usain Bolt and Yohan Blake. During the London Olympics all of the runners trained by Mills won gold medals. Jamaica also managed to smash world records during the 4x100m relay.
Gregg Troy
Troy was the coach for the USA’s swim team. Before this he trained over 75 swimmers who went on to take part in various Olympic Games. His coaching methods have proven to be a big success. This is evident by the fact that at least 150 records have been broken by his trained athletes. Gold medalist Ryan Lochte and numerous others have credited Troy with their successes.
Gogi Koguashvili
In 2012 Russia dominated Olympic wrestling all thanks to this coach. The wrestlers trained by Koguashvili won four golds, two silvers and five bronzes. He coached both the male and female Olympic wrestling teams. The women in particular shone brightly, with Natalia Vorobieva becoming a champion.
Dave Brailsford
The superb performance by Britain’s cycling team was all down to Brailsford. He focuses mainly on track cycling but has also trained riders in BMX, road and mountain bike cycling. Brailsford’s teams have won 30 medals. 18 of these were gold. Before the 2012 Games he helped Mark Cavendish become the world road race champion. His contributions to pro cycling cannot be overstated.
